INSPECTOR James Brain has annouced that a major investigation team are probing the Trowbridge murder.

At a press conference on Sunday evening, Inspector Brain confirmed that one man was killed and another assaulted in the town in the early hours of the morning.

Although the man has not been formally identified, a post mortem will be carried out by the end of the day.

The victim however has been named locally as Jordan Taylor and the news broke following an increase in crime in the town over the last month.

After the press conference Inspector Brain said: "There is no evidence or information that these crimes are linked. I want to reassure the public that we have the resources we need to manage these crime scenes and access them.

"We are doing all we can to can to locate the offender."

The investigation into the murder continues and forensic scientists continue to focus their efforts on Timbrell Street and York Buildings, where they have been seen searching bins and drains.
