UP TO 100 officers are carrying out enquiries into the murder of a Trowbridge man which took place in the early hours of yesterday.

Specialist investigators from the Brunel Major Crime Investigation Team, including members from the Gloucestershire and Avon and Somerset forces, along with officers from the local community policing team, special constables and PSCOs are working on the case.

Some areas of the town are cordoned off from the public.

The man, who has been named locally as Jordan Taylor, was pronounced dead outside Trowbridge Community Hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning. A second man also sustained minor injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Jeremy Carter, of the Brunel Major Crime Investigation Team, said: "Residents can expect to see further police activity in the town today, as we continue this murder investigation.

"I would like to remind anyone who may have information which may help us to come forward; also if you heard or saw anything suspicious in the Timbrell Street and Prospect Place area of town between 1am and 1.45am on Sunday - again please contact us.

"This is a serious incident and we understand that the community will be concerned, however I want to reassure you that we are employing a large number of resources to solve this crime and catch those responsible.”

CCTV is still being reviewed and analysed and cordons in the Timbrell Street and Prospect Place areas of the town remain in place for forensic scientists to gather evidence. Officers have also been seen using metal detectors in Seymour Road this morning.

House to house enquiries will also be carried out today.
