THE woman who died in a crash on the M4 late on Sunday night has been named.

Anouska Paterson, 41, of Lydbrook, Gloucestershire, died at the scene after driving the wrong way along the eastbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 16 and 17.

She was described by a family member on social media as a “Beautiful, intelligent, fun loving bubbly lady who could light up a room with just her smile.

“She leaves behind her husband who is distraught and in pieces at losing his wife and soulmate, her eight-year-old child who has lost his adoring mother, her siblings have lost their sister.

"We as a family have lost someone who never failed to make us smile.”

PC Jay Clifton, of the roads policing unit, is continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident, including anyone who may have dash-cam footage of a black Audi A3 being driven on the eastbound carriageway prior to the collision.

The motorway was closed for seven hours following the collision, which happened at 10.40pm.

Police said the A3 went the wrong way and collided with several cars before crashing head-on into an Audi A4.

The driver of the A4, a man, aged 35 from Bristol, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious leg and pelvic injuries which were not thought to be life threatening.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
