BATHAMPTON Morris Men are to help villagers at Horningsham near Warminster to celebrate Plough Sunday on January 14.
Plough Sunday is a traditional English celebration of the beginning of the agricultural year and involves bringing a ploughshare into church with prayers for the blessing of the land.
It is held on a Sunday after Epiphany and, in years gone by, work in the fields did not begin until the day after Plough Sunday, which is seen as a way of generally celebrating farming and the work of farmers.
Bathampton Morris Men have again been invited to join the celebrations and dance at the service, which is part of their annual programme.
All are welcome to join the celebrations at Horningsham Church, which begin at 11.15am.
