HIGH winds will hit Wiltshire on Wednesday evening, weather experts say.

Gusts of up to 70mph are expected across much of England and Wales from 9pm on Wednesday to 11am on Thursday.  The Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning for wind.  The Chief Forecaster warned: "Along with the strong winds, a spell of heavy rain can also be expected."  The official forecaster suggested that the high winds could cause power cuts, affect mobile phone coverage and force some bridges to close.

A Yellow weather warning has also been issued for snow and ice in southern England. However, Swindon is expected to miss out on the wintry weather - fears of which have prompted forecasters to warn of travel delays and icy roads.
