MCCARTHY and Stone, the leading retirement housebuilder behind the new Retirement Living Plus development on Browfort Campus, Devizes has donated £1,200 to Julia’s House, the Dorset and Wiltshire children’s hospice charity.

Presented by Jackie Faragher, Area Sales Manager for McCarthy and Stone, to Liz Froud, Wiltshire Community Fundraiser for Julia’s House, the donation has been made to help fund a day’s play session for children and families staying at the hospice.

Julia’s House provides outstanding award-winning care for children with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions and support for their families. Its nurses and carers work in the community, in its hospices and in homes across Dorset and Wiltshire. McCarthy and Stone’s forthcoming new development for the over 70s, will neighbour Julia’s House and the donation has been made as part of its ongoing commitment to support local groups and organisations in the Devizes area.

Liz Froud, Julia’s House Wiltshire Community Fundraiser, commented: “We are delighted to receive this support from McCarthy and Stone. The hospice provides respite care for parents who look after extremely sick children and kind donations like this enable us to continue providing the care, facilities and help they so desperately need. We look forward to continuing the relationship with McCarthy and Stone in the future.”

Jackie Faragher, Area Sales Manager for Devizes, said: “We are overjoyed to be able to provide support to Julia’s House. An extremely worthwhile cause, the charity provides remarkable levels of care and support for those that need it, and we hope our donation will provide a fun filled play session, where the children can make friends and enjoy playing whilst the families can get some much deserved respite.

“As a company, we appreciate that it’s our responsibility to not only build quality, purpose-built retirement properties, but also to create a positive legacy in the communities in which we build.”

McCarthy and Stone’s new Retirement Living Plus development will provide an option for retirees aged 70 and over, seeking the privacy and independence of owning your own home but with a little extra support in the form of domestic assistance, such as help with laundry or cleaning, and 24-7 tailored support packages.

The apartments will offer ample communal space for homeowners including a large homeowners’ lounge, perfect for socialising with new neighbours, an on-site restaurant which will serve fresh and nutritious meal options for homeowners daily, and a handy guest suite for when family and friends come to stay.

The new Devizes development will be built with security in mind, with a camera entry system along with 24-hour emergency call points to all of the apartments. An Estate Manager along with an experienced support team, will also be available day or night to oversee the running of the development and to offer any help.
