THIS year’s prestigious Wiltshire Business Awards has crowned First City Nursing Services Ltd as the winners of the Medium Size Enterprise Business of the Year Award.

The homecare providers, who are based on Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, Swindon, defeated Crapper and Sons Landfill Ltd and last year’s winners Bechtle to claim the coveted Nat West sponsored award on Friday night.

To be included in the category, nominees had to have an annual turnover between £2m-£50m, demonstrate growth over a three year period, and have a sound business plan.

"It is wonderful," Stephen Trowbridge said. "We were against some wonderful people from wonderful businesses, some of which we know and work with.

"It has caught us by surprise but we have got a small team and the team are why we are here.

"We have done so many wonderful things this year from getting a new head office in Swindon, we won a £160 million contract for home care service in Swindon and this only adds to that."

James Napp from Bechtle, who accepted the third place gong, also paid tribute to First City Nursing Services for their achievement.

"We won this last year but we were against some tough competition and we are really chuffed for First City Nursing Services as it is well deserved," he said.
