Age Concern Wiltshire is calling on people to keep on knitting woollen items for Innocent drink bottles.
Wiltshire is one of the top five Age Concerns in the UK who take part in the Big Knit each year.
The charity has more than 200 people who knit for the campaign, For each drink sold in Sainsbury’s stores 35p goes to Age Concern.
More than 2,500 items have been knitted in Wiltshire but the charity wants to achieve a target of 5,000 warmers.
The deadline for the project has been extended to November 12.
Belinda Fowler, the 60th Appeal co-ordinator at Age Concern Wiltshire said, “The Big Knit would not be the terrific success it is each year without the support of our amazing knitters.”
One of the top individual knitters at the moment is Margaret Sage of Chippenham who has knitted 140 warmers.
There have also been some great efforts by clubs: Colerne Luncheon Club members have knitted 345 warmers and Oldbury (Cherhill) Wednesday Club members have knitted 191 items. For more information contact Age Concern Wiltshire on 01380 727767.
Age Concern Wiltshire’s Big 60 Appeal continues, meanwhile, with Winsley mum and daughter Diana and Becky Deal completing a 130-mile fundraising cycle trek.
Mrs Deal and Becky, 16, an A-level student, did the cycle ride last week during the school half-term.
They set off from their home in Winsley and cycled around Salisbury Plain and on to Winchester, where they joined the South Downs Way.
They then cycled all the way to Brighton, where they met up with Mrs Deal’s eldest daughter Katie, who is at university there.
The challenge took them four days. They camped out for three nights and stayed in a B&B one night.
Mrs Deal has so far raised £135 in sponsorship and hopes to reach the £200 mark.
Age Concern’s Big 60 Appeal is aiming to raised £60,000 during this year, its 60th anniversary, to provide vital support and friendship to older people in Wiltshire.
