Have your say on mobile library routes in Wiltshire

Wiltshire Council is asking people to have their say to make sure mobile libraries are reaching as many people as possible.

Every three years the council reviews its mobile library routes to ensure the vehicles stop in convenient places which are well used, as well as looking at the possibility of introducing new stops.

The unitary authority says there will not be a cut in the number of mobile libraries, the number of mobile staff or the time mobiles spend in villages across the county.

Stuart Wheeler, cabinet member for libraries, said: "It is very important to us that we reach as many people as possible.

"This review will ensure the people who need this very important service are getting it."

A full set of proposed timetables and details of how to feedback comments is available from the four mobile libraries, or by visiting www.wiltshire.gov.uk/libraries and following the links to Mobile Library Consultation.

Staff on the four mobile libraries will also be asking the views of existing users.

Following consultation, it is hoped the revised routes will be introduced in July.

People who are unable to use a mobile stop or a static branch library, can apply for the Home Library Service by calling Rebecca Bolton on 01225 713706 or emailing mobilelibraries@wiltshire.gov.uk.

The Home Library Service is provided by volunteers who deliver books/audio stock direct to the customers’ home, free of charge, at a time to suit them.

The reading material provided is tailored to suit the customers' reading needs through discussion with library staff.
