Wiltshire's chief constable moves to border force role

Brian Moore Brian Moore

Wiltshire's Chief Constable Brian Moore is to become head of the new UK Border Force.

Mr Moore is being seconded to the new force to establish it as a new entity, separate from its former host, the troubled UK Border Agency.

As his contract with Wiltshire Police Authority expires in December it will effectively conclude his tenure as Chief Constable. Deputy Chief Constable Patrick Geenty step in as acting chief until a replacement for Mr Moore is appointed by Wiltshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner.

The new commissioner will be elected on November 15 for a four-year term.

They will take over responsibility for policing in Wiltshire and Swindon on November 22nd and one of their first jobs will be to appoint a new chief constable.

WPA chairman Christopher Hoare, said: “We are supporting this secondment of Brian Moore to the UK Border Force where he will be engaged in work of national importance. We are sure he will make an invaluable contribution, and felt that his skills and experience should be made available in the national interest. Brian became Wiltshire’s Chief Constable in January 2008 and under his leadership Wiltshire has become the safest county in England and Wales. We know he will be greatly missed by the public, Wiltshire Police and our partners. WPA recognises, and is very grateful for, Brian’s outstanding contribution to the policing of Wiltshire and Swindon.”

just ensurethat your comments are 100% positive - asolutely polite - and full of the deference that they should be.
If not - they will be removed, forthwith.

I see all the comments about the drink driving idiot from Yatton Keynell have been removed then. "Egor the Deleter" has been wired up to the mains and reactivated in his ham fisted role of moderation.

Yes - perhaps I upset someone?!
I'm sure I'll care some day.
Just irritating - some namby-pamby fool whining to the g&h 'cos someone doesn't agree with them.
Hells teeth - why do people grow up believing that only they have the right to speak their minds?

Well, i hope he does a better job than his predecessor! why do we need a police and crime commissioner? another unnecessary notch on the tax payer funded hierarchical ladder, these common purpose brainwashed Muppet's really don't do bad for themselves do they.

Yes - employed only on the basis that they satisfy the local authority...... god help us all - we'll have a new one each week.
(4-year term - forget it - there's no way we'll find someone who can jump through hoops non-stop - for that long!)

I think it would be a good idea if, at the election on November 15th, everyone wrote on their ballot paper that they had no interest in participating.
