Coffee mornings will get under way across West Wiltshire next week to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, including the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday.

In Westbury people will gather for coffee, cakes and scones at The Garden House Hotel in Edward Street, which is already expecting to raise £3,600.

The charity is delighted at the fantastic response from local people but is hoping even more will sign up to take part.

Macmillan’s Wiltshire events assistant Charlotte Januszewski said: “The £3,600 Westbury target is almost the equivalent of the cost of a Macmillan Nurse for a month.

“The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is going from strength to strength with host registrations doubling since last year.

“Macmillan hopes to raise around £10.7m across the UK, but this target cannot be reached without the generous efforts of the hosts and all that attend.”

Other coffee mornings on Friday are at Suave in Warminster Road, Westbury; at Melksham Co-operative funeral directors in Church Street; at St Mary’s Church in Upton Scudamore and at Barclays Bank in Warminster, with cakes, a tombola, and a bake-off between seven staff.

Coffee mornings will also be held during the week, including one at Bradford on Avon Co-operative funeral directors in Kingston Square on Tuesday.
