Witness appeal after woman assaulted in Trowbridge

Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Trowbridge on Friday.

The incident took place at approximately 11.30am on Manvers Street.

The victim had just reached the junction of Manvers Street and Church Street when she was approached by a man who tried to grab her handbag.

She refused to let go and the assailant then pushed her to the ground before running off in the direction of Church Street through the grounds of Manvers House.

The victim was helped to her feet by two members of the public. She suffered bruising to her leg in the incident.

The suspect is described as being in his late 20s, about 5’11” tall, of a skinny build with short dark hair. He also had a wispy dark beard around his chin.

He was wearing a black hooded top, black trousers and dirty white trainers.

Before the assault, the suspect was with another man on a bike. He is described as white, aged in his 20’s, clean shaven with blonde hair and of a stocky build.

He was wearing a blue hooded top underneath a thin blue raincoat, blue jeans and white trainers. The bike he was on was black with a crossbar.

Anyone in the area at the time of the incident, or the two members of the public who came to the victim’s aid, are asked to contact DC Kevin Golledge at the Priority Crime Team on 101 extension 728503 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.

did he have a serbian accent and an imitation weapon easily recognised as such,if so just let him go. Does Trowbridge park require more languages added to the signs so we can warn people off in a more cultural way. Hope the Victim is ok, glad he didnt get away with the handbag. Bring back hanging for this crime
