13th December 2012.

Upavon Golf Club Captain Mick Venner has today presented a cheque for £4625.16 to MacMillan Cancer Support as the total he has raised, with help from his wife Mo, during his year in office. This has been raised at numerous events during 2012 as part of Upavon Golf Club's Centenary celebrations. As well as the traditional Captain's Day, Mick also managed to source several unique items of Golfing Memorabilia signed by some of the Top Golfers in the world which he used for fund raising purposes.

Help also came from Hampshire County Cricket team, The Red Arrows and local Devizes brewery Wadworth's. As the lead singer in the local four piece 50's Style Music Group 'The Rockin Bandits' Mick held two Gigs during the summer in aid of MacMillan which helped to boost the totals.

Mick has a photographic business 'A Star Photography Studios' in Market Lavington and he organised several Photo shoots during his year to support and raise further funds for the Charity.

Upavon Club Manager Richard Blake said 'The sum that Mick has raised of over £4500 during this our very special Centenary year at Upavon Golf Club is a credit to all his hard work that he has put in to being our Club Captain. The brilliant contributions from our growing membership shows how our Club has worked together and backed Mick and MacMillan Cancer Support throughout 2012. It has been a great year for all of us and we hope to continue into 2013.'
