Secondary pupils in Trowbridge will debate what the town’s future means to them in a competition being staged at Clarendon Academy.
The Young Voice of Trowbridge 2013 event, organised by Trowbridge in Bloom, runs from 4-8pm on February 4, in the Spectrum Theatre.
It will have teams from the host school, John of Gaunt School and St Augustine’s Catholic College.
Year 8, Year 10 and Year 13 pupils have been competing in school heats for places in the final since the launch of the competition last autumn.
Jennifer Polledri, the Friends of Trowbridge in Bloom chairman, said: “The art of public speaking and debate is something to be nurtured and developed by schools, therefore we need to ensure the voices of children and young people can be heard on critical issues in society, whilst celebrating the art of communication.”
The finalists will be taking part in a debate, with the eventual winners selected by a team of judges.
