Two Warminster pubs are being brought to market by specialist property adviser Christie + Co on behalf of the joint administrators of Powder Train LLP.

The Anchor Hotel, in Market Place, and The George Inn, in Longbridge Deverill, are just two of five freehold pubs in the south of England to be put up for sale.

Christie + Co are taking the action on behalf of Julie Palmer, Simon Campbell and Gavin Savage of Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP, the joint administrators of Powder Train LLP, which entered administration on February 6.

The Anchor Hotel, worth £450,000, is a Grade II Listed former coaching inn, which includes two bars, a breakfast dining room and five en suite letting bedrooms.

The inn’s situation on the borders of Salisbury Plain and Warminster’s market town has made it a popular venue over the years.

Situated just outside Warminster, The George Inn, worth £895,000, dates from the 17th century and is a bar and restaurant, with extensive garden areas and a paddock.

The news comes just a few weeks after it was revealed that national pub chain Wetherspoon had applied for planning permission for The Bath Arms, also in Market Place, in the hope re-opening the pub with a beer garden.

As well as The Anchor Hotel and George Inn, other pubs set to go on the market include The Chilli Pad in Hampshire, The Chequers Inn in East Sussex and The Handsome Pig in West Sussex.
