Members of the public and staff from Bradford on Avon swimming pool will be involved in a 24 hour swim on Thursday to raise money for Dorothy House.

This is the second year the event has taken place in memory of John Angell, a well-known car salesman from Hilperton, who died of cancer in August 2011.

His wife Kerena Angell, who swam at the pool daily with Mr Angell, and her two sons JJ, 25, and Jamie, 28, will also take part in the relay swim, which starts at Bradford on Avon swimming pool at 6pm.

Mrs Angell said: “I find swimming therapeutic and attend every day but it is still hard to get in the pool.

“I am so touched and grateful for the staff’s support and would not be doing as well as I am if it wasn’t for them.”

Mrs Angell was approached by the staff last year who wanted to raise money for Dorothy House and together they raised just over £1300 in last year’s swim.

“Johnny was incredibly fit and healthy so you never know when you might need them (Dorothy House),” added Mrs Angell.

Collection buckets will be at the swimming pool and donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/bradford-swimming-pool
