Pupils at Dilton Marsh Primary had a visit from Roman soldier Gaius Iulius Lactanus, a member of the Ermin Street Guards, recently.

He showed the Year 4, 5 and 6 children Roman artefacts and talked about the life of Roman soldiers.

He also taught the children how Roman soldiers would have defended themselves, using the shields the children had made for homework before his visit.

Four of the Year 6 children then entertained him to lunch they had prepared themselves.
