Children celebrate the news that their park is to improve Children celebrate the news that their park is to improve

Bratton Park Life community group is celebrating after raising enough to improve their village park, thanks to grants and almost a year of fundraising events.

They reached their target after receiving a grant of £10,000 from The Hills Group, through the Landfill Communities Fund administered for Hills by Community First, the Rural Community Council for Wiltshire.

The National Lottery also provided a grant of £9,133 through the Big Lottery Fund.

Vanessa Blake, from Bratton Park Life , said: “It was great to obtain the grant funding, but that wouldn’t have been possible without the support and funds we received from local community groups and businesses, including Bratton Fete, Parochial Church Council, Westbury Lions Club, Nutricia, Selwood Housing, Alan Petrie Motors and all those who supported our endless cake sales.

“We set up the project less than a year ago as we wanted to improve the play equipment available in the village for younger children.”

A community area grant also awarded by Wiltshire Council and Bratton Parish Council will enable additional equipment to be provided for the benefit of older children. All the new equipment should be installed by April.
