A Southwick woman’s fundraiser in memory of her late husband netted £1,053 in her quest to sponsor a guide dog for him.
Linda Dowsett held a table top sale, at South-wick Village Hall, followed by a quiz night at St Thomas’ Church.
The event, on Saturday marked the second anniversary of Gordon Dow-sett’s death, and moved Mrs Dowsett a big step closer to reaching her goal of raising £5,000 to sponsor the dog and name it Gordon.
She said: “I’m over the moon, I would have been thrilled if we’d got £500, so to get this much is just wonderful.”
Mr Dowsett was well known for being involved with many clubs and organisations in the area, as well as being Father Christmas in The Shires Shopping Centre, in Trowbridge.
Mrs Dowsett’s next fund-raiser will be a Wimbledon cream tea event, on July 3, while she will hold her annual coffee morning in October. Call her on 01225 355055 for more details.
