Widower from Trowbridge in thanks after raid support
12:00pm Sunday 17th March 2013 in Latest News
A Trowbridge man has thanked wellwishers for their support after jewellery belonging to his late wife was taken during a burglary at his home.
Mike James, 65, pictured, was on holiday in Malta when June James’ wedding ring, engagement ring, ruby anniversary ring and a gold watch were stolen some time between Thursday, February 28 and Friday, March 1.
Mrs James died on January 5 and since contacting the police about the burglary Mr James has not been reunited with the treasured items.
He said: “It has been lovely to have people showing concern and I’m really grateful to everyone hoping I get the jewellery back. I just keep hoping I’ll come home one day and the jewellery will have been posted through the door.”
Mrs James’ wedding ring is gold with crisscrosses, the engagement ring is gold with a diamond and the anniversary ring has a ruby stone.
Mr James, Trowbridge Rugby Club president, was married for 42 years.
Anyone with information can call Wiltshire Police on the non-emergency 101 line.
