Angel recovering at home
A Southwick schoolgirl is on the mend after suffering a broken leg in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf on Friday.
Angel Baxendale, 12, of Southfield, walked out in front of the silver car, in Frome Road, at around 3pm.
She broke the small bone in the shin of her right leg and fractured the larger bone behind it, and was taken by ambulance to Royal United Hospital Bath for treatment.
Stepmother Denise Baxen-dale, who lives with Angel’s father Mark, said: “She was walking home from school trying to catch up with her friends and stepped out and the car hit her.
“Even though she suffered these injuries we are just so thankful that nothing worse happened, and we are looking after her the best we can.”
Angel’s leg is currently in plaster and she is on crutches, but she hopes to recover in around a month.
The man driving the Volkswagen was believed to have been from Trowbridge, and was treated at the scene for shock.
