Support for a residents’ campaign group is continuing to grow as it leads the fight against plans to build 320 homes on the outskirts of Warminster.

Proposals for the development at Home Farm were unveiled by Hallam Land Management at an exhibition in the Civic Centre last year, but as yet no planning application has been submitted.

The East Boreham Residents Action Group, or EBRAG, recently held a meeting at St John's Church in Boreham Road to update locals about their progress, with 95 people there and more than 40 sending apologies.

Chairman of the group Nick Parker told the meeting that much will depend on the independent examination of Wilt-shire Council’s Core Strategy, which originally rejected the site for development.

Mr Parker said: “The Core Strategy is currently being examined and Warminster’s case will be heard on July 2, when it will be decided whether the council has got its plans right.

“Hallam has challenged the Core Strategy and will probably wait for a decision to be made by the inspector, but they could still submit a planning application if the Core Strategy is adopted as it is. Therefore, it is important that we continue to fight this proposed development and make sure that Home Farm is removed from all future plans.

“Support for the group has continued to grow and there is a serious concern about the major impact this plan would have on the town’s infrastructure, as well as the added traffic.”
