A treasure trove of challenges kept girl pirates hooked on a day of sparkling adventure.

With a commanding roar, 87 crew from Rainbow units across Trowbridge, Hilperton, Melksham and Westbury descended on the county HQ in Berwick St James for some swashbuckling fun.

Shaving the captain’s beard and dodging sharks as they walked the plank, the pirates followed clues to the treasure as they rambled the three-acre site.

Piecing together mermaid jewellery assembled from gems found on the trail and designing their own treasure maps led the five to seven-years-olds to sing sea shanties around a fire whilst balancing their penny parrots in their hands. County Rainbow advisor Jane Lackey said: “It’s been an excellent day for the girls to express their creativity and make lots of new friends.”
