The one-day-a-year bus service to the “lost” village of Imber on Salisbury Plain is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 3, with buses taking off every 30 minutes from Warminster Rail Station.

A fleet of red Routemaster buses will transport passengers to Imber over Ministry of Defence roads usually closed to the public, with the church set to be open for most of the day.

The service to Imber will operate from 9.50am until 6.20pm, except for 1.20pm, with many journeys continuing to Brazen Bottom, West Lavington, Market Lavington, Tilshead and Chitterne.

Occasional journeys will go to New Zealand Farm Camp, but passengers from Warminster and Imber will need to change buses at Gore Cross.

While fares are charged for the service, operated by the Bath Bus Company, the money will be donated to the Imber Church fund and the Royal British Legion, with over £1,000 being raised for each cause since 2009.
