Patients force change of menu at the RUH
11:00am Saturday 24th August 2013 in Latest News
PEOPLE power has resulted in the Royal United Hospital, Bath changing its menu for patients.
Changes include offering a hot meal option on the evening menu across all wards – hot meals were not routinely offered on all wards in the evening – and extending the variety of food on offer to include fresh homemade soups and different sandwiches.
The RUH has bought an industrial-size stick blender to help make the 400 servings of homemade soup every day. Soups on offer include carrot and coriander, leek and potato, parsnip, broccoli and stilton and tomato and basil.
Patients gave feedback about the hospital’s food in the Family and Friends Test.
Jill Tuffrey, nutrition and dietetic services manager at the RUH, said: “The trust is committed to improving the patient experience and this includes making sure that our patients have access to a varied menu of good quality food.”
