Groups signing up for RUH's big fundraising day
9:10am Tuesday 8th October 2013 in Latest News
With just over a week to go until Ted’s Big Day Out, schools, businesses and other groups have signed up for The Forever Friends Appeal’s annual fundraising day for the RUH Cancer Care Campaign.
With this year proudly sponsored by Mogers Solicitors, the day’s fun theme encourages supporters to wear a wig or raise a hat.
Everyone can get involved and have fun, and there is still time to register and take part.
With many businesses, schools, organisations and nurseries already signed up there will be lots of fantastic activities on the day.
A few of those taking part on Friday, October 18 include Bluefin Insurance in Bath baking cakes and wearing wigs and hats into the office, Baskerville’s School of Gymnastics having teddy bear themed lessons all week, Colerne Primary School a sponsored Welly Walk, staff from Bath ASU in Corsham wearing wigs and hats to work, and Bathampton Primary School, Bath taking their teddy bears out for the day and joining in with the Wig and Hat fundraising theme.
All organisations registered are able to enter Big Ted’s grand prize draw, where a few lucky winners will receive a visit from Big Ted himself on the day.
Jo Hones, Events & Community Officer for the Forever Friends Appeal, said: “Ted’s Big Day Out is a fun way to support and fundraise for the RUH Cancer Care Campaign to help improve services at Bath’s RUH.
"We have many organisations already signed up but we would love to have even more join in and take part.”
Sponsors Mogers, the Bath-based solicitors, are holding a fun competition for school children, nurseries and clubs to design and draw Ted his very own hat. The lucky winner will have their prize delivered by Big Ted and it’s not too late to enter as the deadline for entries has been extended to this Friday. More information from Louise Kelly at Mogers on 01225 750017.
The RUH Cancer Care Campaign aims to raise £8 million towards building a pioneering new Cancer Centre that will transform the care received by cancer patients and their families at the Royal United Hospital.
Each year the RUH treats over 2,000 new patients with cancer and the new centre will balance clinical expertise with the provision of a nurturing and therapeutic environment, that will dramatically improve patient care and the experience for all those affected.
Anyone still wishing to take part in the Ted’s Big Day Out fundraising day can log on to www.tedsbigdayout.co.uk to register or call Ted’s hotline at The Forever Friends Appeal on 01225 825823.
