Warminster vintage bus day to boost Guide Dogs charity
The Warminster Vintage Bus Running Day returns on Sunday, with about 40 historic vehicles operating a free service from the town centre between 10am and 5pm.
The annual event is a chance for transport enthusiasts and the public to enjoy journeys in West Wiltshire as they were from the 1950s to the 1970s, mostly using preserved buses and coaches.
Buses will operate on 16 routes, with most starting and ending near Warminster’s railway station, serving Mere, Frome and Westbury, as well as passing through Codford, Sutton Veny, Horningsham and Chitterne.
Organising committee president Bob Eade said:“We will have around 10 or 11 vehicles that haven’t been to Warminster before, which will be a treat for the enthusiasts, and we also have a couple of new routes, so it should be good.”
Money raised on the day from programme sales will go to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Anyone wanting more details should log on to www.warminstervbrd.wordpress.com
