Trowbridge man admits sexually assaulting girl

A man who repeatedly molested a young girl when she was just 11 or 12 years old has been warned he faces a jail term.
Colin Almond, of Studley Rise, Trowbridge, has been told he must register as a sex offender after admitting a series of offences against the child when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.
The 42-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Almond also admitted four other counts of sexual activity with a child.
The first three charges relate to when the girl was aged 11 or 12 in 2004 or 2005 and the other four when she was aged 13, in 2005 and 2006.
He pleaded not guilty to a fourth charge of sexual assault on a child under 13 and an allegation of sexual assault on another young girl, aged nine.
Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to November 15 to give the probation service time to compile a pre-sentence report.
He released him on bail on the single condition that he co-operates with the preparation of the report.
But he warned him: "The fact you are being granted bail should not be taken as any indication of the final outcome of this case. It is almost inevitable this case will end up in a custodial sentence."
The judge also told that as a result of his pleas he will have to register as a sex offender, with the total time he will have to continue to register decided by the final sentence.
