Studley Green Primary School turned a new page when it officially opened its library last Thursday.
The school, in Westfield Road, welcomed children’s author Kristina Stephenson as their guest of honour for the event to cut the ribbon.
She said: “It is thrilling to be involved. I hope I’ve been able to encourage the children and they realise that reading can be a great deal of fun.”
During the visit, the author, who created the character Sir Charlie Stinky Socks, held workshops with the pupils.
Acting headteacher Nigel Andrews said: “It is great that the library is open and we are delighted to welcome Kristina.
“I worked with teacher Kerri Betteridge putting the plans together for the library and I’d like to thank her for all her enthusiasm and hard work.”
