TWO PEOPLE were arrested for drink-driving in Melksham on Saturday, following a spate of incidents in the town. A woman was issued with a fixed penalty notice in the Market Place at 1am, and a man was detained on Spa Road at 8.20pm, following a minor two-car collision.
Police also dealt with a group of revellers who smashed three bottles of wine and knocked over a display cabinet at the Esso Garage on Semington Road at 12.20am, while an 18-year-old man was assaulted in the King George V Playing Field at 2.47am. He sustained minor head injuries and was assessed by paramedics, but was not seriously hurt.
