Warminster Town Council’s planning advisory committee refused plans again for an unpopular development of 60 homes at land off Bath Road and Church Street at a meeting on Monday.

Redrow Homes submitted the planning application for the development, including a range of properties from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses, despite opposition from the town.

The proposals resulted in an unprecedented turnout at a previous planning advisory meeting held in November last year, with residents voicing their disapproval over the plans.

A petition of 643 signatures against the plan was also handed in, with many citing the possibility of flooding in the area plus an increase in traffic and environmental damage as reasons for refusal.

The plans went before the council again on Monday after the application was amended, but councillors voted unanimously for refusal of the plans.
