Tributes have been paid to teenager Mary Stroman who died after being struck by a train in Yarnbrook on Wednesday, January 15.
The 16-year-old, of Hornsey, in London, was hit near the Aintree Avenue crossing at around 8.20pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.
British Transport Police (BTP) has been investigating the incident and Mary’s family has released a statement through them.
It said: “To all her friends and people who knew her, please remember Mary as a bright, clever and funny girl who was gentle and kind to everyone.
“She loved animals and the outdoors, and she always had great love and affection for all of her family. Mary is now at peace with herself and it was an honour to have her as a daughter and a sister.
“Thank you to all of our family and friends who have supported, and are continuing to support us.”
It is understood that Mary had been staying in the area and her family are planning a memorial to honour her.
Before Mary died, Wiltshire Police were called to the area to investigate a report of a missing person.
BTP do not believe the circumstances of Mary’s death to be suspicious.
