Children's charity Splash is making big plans for the future, after recruiting two new volunteers to help coordinate activities for youngsters in the county.

The charity, which provides outdoor activities and creative workshops in the school holidays, has welcomed former volunteer Corina Cuff as volunteer coordinator, and experienced charity worker Mel Bradley to manage fundraising.

The roles were financed by a £38,448 grant from Police and Crime Commissioner Angus MacPherson’s 2013 Innovation Fund.

Ms Cuff ran contemporary dance sessions for young people and said volunteering could make a real difference.

“By having a volunteer working alongside a leader and assistant at an activity day we can potentially double the number of young people at that session,” she said.

“As well as helping the community, volunteering with Splash can be very beneficial to the volunteers themselves. It could open up a new career path and boost your social skills.”

Ms Bradley has previously worked with the Afghan Appeal Fund, and is hoping to apply her skills to boost Splash’s coffers.

She said: “I’m starting to look at growing a new Friends of Splash network. We also want to establish relationships with businesses in Wiltshire and Swindon, whose staff may wish to volunteer or fundraise for Splash.”
