The power of social media came to the aid of two-year-old Brooke Little, who lost her beloved Ted while a trip to hospital.

Thanks to a Twitter campaign and website stories, Brooke, of Pewsham, Chippenham, not only got her own teddy back but another too.

Bank manager dad Mark, 33, said: “Brooke really loves the bear and was very upset when it went missing. In the old days, I suppose we would have just gone out and tried to buy a replacement.

“But the bear was bought for Brooke when she was born so has sentimental value. My wife, Colette, decided to put it on Twitter with a hash tag #FindBrooke’sTed and then this was picked up.”

The bear went missing when the Littles went to the Royal United Hospital’s maternity wing, so Mrs Little, who is expecting her second baby, could have a scan.

Ted was eventually found in maternity and handed in at the Forever Friends fundraising office, which has a bear mascot of its own.

Staff sent Brooke’s Ted home with a new friend, a little Forever Friends bear.
