Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses following a head-on collision on the A36 at Codford, near Warminster, on Friday evening.

A woman, who was driving a silver Peugeot 206, suffered serious injuries in the collision, which also involved a white Ford Transit flatbed.

The collision happened at about 5.45pm outside the Hillside Cafe and Toran Indian restaurant.

The driver of the Peugeot, a local woman aged about 50 years old, was treated by Wiltshire Air Ambulance paramedics at the scene and taken to the major trauma centre at Southampton General Hospital.

The driver of the Transit, a man in his 30’s from Warminster, suffered minor injuries, while the A36 was closed in both directions for approximately five hours.
