Pupils at Matravers School were put through their paces by local employers when the Westbury school held it first ever Little Interview event.

The event involved every Year 9 pupil being interviewed by one of more than 20 local employers as part of their Information, Advice and Guidance preparation.

Headteacher Simon Riding said: “We have been absolutely amazed at the local support from businesses.

“During the day, students have really been put through their paces, experiencing a really tough interview process, but they have risen to this challenge extremely well.”

It was the first of three interviews planned for this year, to support Year 9, Year 10 and Year 12 pupils as they prepare for work and wider study.

Susan Barker, from Wiltshire Council’s Wiltshire Skills 4 Success programme, was interviewing and said: “It went very well, the students all seemed to be very enthusiastic and definitely a worthwhile activity for them.”

Rob Clark, from DC Leisure, who also interviewed pupils, said: “A massively useful experience for students. When they relaxed after the first few minutes, they came out of themselves and their personalities came through.”
