Trowbridge Lodge Service Station has donated nearly £2,000 to help two of the town’s schools.

West Ashton Primary School and Larkrise School. a special needs facility, both received £993.09 from the garage, in West Ashton Road, following a scheme started in October.

As part of the year-long campaign, the petrol station has donated one pence towards a shared fund for every two litres of fuel their customers buy.

Last week, the schools were given their first quarterly instalments.

West Ashton Primary School put the money towards 10 iPad Minis and Larkrise added the money to a £26,000 order for five 52-inch touch plasma screens.

Becky Sharp, West Ashton Primary School’s Year 1 and 2 teacher, said the money was hugely beneficial to the school which was very grateful to the garage for their generosity.

Larkrise School is for children with severe disabilities and Phil Cook, headteacher, said: “The screens are on hydraulic stands so they can be used by children on the floor, adjusted for those in wheelchairs and used by groups sitting at a table.

“They are also able to be used by more than one person at a time.”

Ed Seaton, who owns Trowbridge Lodge Service Station, said he was delighted to see the two schools benefitting from the initiative.

He said: “This scheme will only thrive by people in Trowbridge knowing about it and supporting it. I have been really impressed by with the feedback we have received.”
