A failed backing CD was not enough to stop 12-year-old Izzy Felstead triumphing in the TeenStar 2014 competition on Sunday.

She auditioned in the pre-teen category of the X-Factor style competition in Fareham in front of three judges.

Her CD backing track failed to work but she held her nerve and sang Duffy’s Warwick Avenue a cappella.

The Sheldon School pupil from Sutton Benger has composed her first single, No Turning Back, with her mentor Mel Austin, from Beanacre, who encouraged her to audition.

Izzy regularly performs at The Pilot pub in Bowerhill and will also sing at the Colerne Music Fund event on April 5. On March 23 she will be in the regional finals, aiming for the national final at the O2 in London, where the top prize is £5,000 in cash.
