Recovering cancer patient Jade Francis, who is in remission after battling leiomyosarcoma in March last year, was not only thrilled to complete the race but she was given the one year all clear two days later.

She ran in two hours 55 minutes with her father John and his friend Neville Town and they have raised £1,100 for the Teenage Cancer Trust Team towards the construction of the first specialist cancer unit for young people across the South West.

Miss Francis, 24, from Trowbridge, said: “It was really tough. I have never had trouble with my knees during training, but four miles in they went. I had to go to the first aid tent and get them strapped up.

“I am really chuffed. It shows you can do anything if you put your mind to it.”
