An elderly man was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital with serious injuries after a collision in Chippenham this morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident just before 10.40am in Pewsham, which involved one vehicle.
The driver of a yellow Fiat Panda suffered life threatening injuries, according to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
He was anaesthetised by the aircrew on scene, at the junction of Canal Road and Fortune Way.
He was then flown to the major trauma centre at Frenchay Hospital near Bristol, where he arrived in 10 minutes.
Wiltshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team said he remained in a serious condition this afternoon.
Any witnesses are asked to call PC 122 Kevin Fry on 101.
