Jobs at risk at Trowbridge baby food firm
7:00am Friday 18th April 2014 in Latest News
More than 30 jobs are at risk at Trowbridge-based Danone Baby Nutrition.
The company, which employs 264 staff at the White Horse Business Park, is moving its careline and consumer support services to an external company in London.
As a result it is consulting on the future of the jobs of 31 permanent employees and seven staff on fixed-term, temporary and casual contracts.
They have the option to transfer to the London company, apply for other jobs within Danone or take redundancy.
Danone Baby Nutrition, which is part of Groupe Danone and owns the baby feed brands Aptamil and Cow & Gate, has been based in Trowbridge since 1978.
General manager James Mayer said: “We know that the way consumers and mums want to interact with us is changing, affecting both the volume of contacts and the way in which we respond to them.
“Our current systems lack the flexibility and agility that we need now and in the future so we intend to move these services to an external specialist consumer care company based in London. It is anticipated that this new service will begin in October 2014.
“An unfortunate consequence of this is that the Careline and Quality Affairs teams in Trowbridge will no longer continue to operate.
“We are proud of our team who for many years have provided a service which is second to none. This has been a very difficult decision.
“Our priority is to ensure we support those people affected and we will be working closely with them to explore all available options.”
