The latest exhibition by Keevil artist Joanna May at her home was a great success with more than 90 art lovers seeing her work.

A third of her original artworks were sold, as well as original drawings and prints from her new work.

Some paintings were in a new style for Ms May – using writing to create shading and repeating words to describe the hare, a frequent motif in her work.

Actress Rula Lenska, a close friend of Ms May’s, was at the exhibition in the morning and the hare was one of her favourites.

Joanna May’s iconic Leopards also sold well with the Snow Leopard having two clients bidding for the original.

Guest speaker Paul Martin, from BBC’s Flog It!, talked about the investment in good contemporary art or furniture either antique or contemporary.

Ms May said: “The exhibition flowed through to the garden, with Rachel Ducker’s joyous wire figures evolving from the lawn.”
