Developers have announced a public consultation into proposals for 500 homes north of Chippenham, near Barrow Farm.

Robert Hitchins Ltd aims to submit an outline planning application for a mixed-use scheme consisting of up to 500 homes of different types and sizes together with open space, play areas, a local centre, employment land and a new primary school.

Access to the site, north and east of Barrow Farm, would be from two new roundabout junctions on the B4069 Swindon Road.

A spokesman for Robert Hitchins Ltd said: "The proposed scheme would provide much-needed houses, including affordable homes, for the people of Chippenham in accordance with the independently assessed housing needs for the town, and will help Wiltshire Council meet its housing requirements for the area in the next five to ten years.

"The company would very much like local feedback before proceeding with a planning application to Wiltshire Council. In particular, the project team, led by planning consultants AMEC, wants to hear the views of residents, local councillors and representatives from the local community."

There will be a public consultation on Friday, May 16, at Kington Langley Village Hall, Church Road, Kington Langley, SN15 5NJ from 2-8pm.

The project team will go through the proposals and answer questions.

The spokesman said: “We hope that as many people as possible will attend the event. Their comments will be taken on board and will inform our planning application.”
