Some Corsham traders' patience is wearing thin as filming in the town's High Street takes place for the new version of Poldark, due to be shown in 2015.

Actor Aidan Turner, who plays Ross Poldark in the BBC’s new adaptation of the Cornish period drama, attracted attention yesterday as he strode the streets of Corsham.

The High Street has been was transformed for filming with shop fronts turned into those that would not have looked out of place in 18th century Truro.

Daisy Coppin, owner of Coppins of Corsham jewellers, said: “We are on the corner of the High Street and Church Street. A different name has been put above the door, things have been put in the High Street window and the shutters on our Church Street window have been closed.

“It is great for the town and fun to watch but it is not great for business.

"The disruption has been a lot more than what I was led to believe.

“The problem we have is that people think we are closed.

"One lady told us she waited 25 minutes to get through (the cordon) but said she would try and get back to us at the weekend. It is a little bit frustrating.

We were in Corsham for four days because I wanted to see the Poldark set and filming. Therefore, the town received our business that it otherwise wouldn't have done! Notices clearly said that businesses were open as usual.

There really is no pleasing some people is there? Enjoy it while it is here, stop moaning, it will be the people who like seeing this programme who will be coming back to your shop anyway, not the locals who cannot afford to pay your prices....I am not stereo-typing, just stating a fact., you are not doing yourself a favour by moaning

Just be grateful your road isn't closed for up to six months which ours is while Network rail rebuild their bridges. When that happens and Corsham is cut off you will have my sympathy.
