More than 250 fundraisers take to the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath tomorrow to raise funds for the Forever Friends Appeal in the Walk of Life.

The 21-mile walk starts at Devizes Wharf at 9am. Walkers can choose to do the full 21 miles to Bath; 12 miles from Devizes to Bradford on Avon; or nine miles in the afternoon from Bradford on Avon to Sydney Gardens, Bath.

Walkers from Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire will raise money for the new Cancer Centre at Royal United Hospital in Bath.

Last year’s event raised £38,000 and organisers are hoping to exceed that amount this year.

Emily Lynch, events and community officer for The Forever Friends Appeal, said every year the event attracts more people, enabling more funds to be raised for the hospital. She thanked everyone who has signed to do the walk.

Kier Construction sponsors the event and the firm’s staff will be involved with walking and marshaling along the route.
