A team of pupils put their best foot forward to raise £675 with a sponsored walk down the Kennet and Avon canal. The five youngsters, aged between seven and nine, walked for five miles from Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s Devizes HQ to The Barge Inn at Seend, pictured below, to raise funds for the charity, and the World Wildlife Fund.

Annabel Phillips’ sons Ben, nine, and Jamie, seven, were among the classmates who took part in the hike. She said: “They had a fantastic walk. They spent time before the walk at the air ambulance base in Devizes, where the pilot spent time showing the children the helicopter.

“They started the walk at 11am, and were cold and wet but were just as enthusiastic at the end as they were at the start when they finished at 2pm.

“We want to say a huge thank you to teachers and pupils at Bowerhill for arranging a non-uniform day which raised just under £190 towards their target, and to everyone that sponsored the children and came along to support them, and the air ambulance crew and staff for making us feel so welcome.”
