Melksham Lions Club looks forward to a big turnout on Saturday, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary with a host of activities.

The club hosts a fun day in the town centre, with vintage vehicles, maypole dancing and martial art displays, as well as a contest between town criers from across the world.

Lions’ activities manager Simon White said: “We haven’t done anything like this for a good many years.

“We have the Enigma baton twirling team, the Bath Air Training Corps’ band, local pupils maypole dancing, kickboxing from Dragons’ Lair MMA and an archery display.

“There’ll be about 18 charity and trade stalls, a traction engine, classic cars and motorbikes, and a model railway display.”

The festivities start at 10.30am in the Market Place, with displays also taking place in the grounds of Melksham House until 4pm.

All proceeds from the day will go to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and other local charities.
