Business is blooming for Melksham hairdresser Michael Clarke.
Mr Clarke, of Clarkie’s Hairdressers, in Bath Road, won the top prize for his window displays in this year’s Melksham in Bloom contest, the first time he had entered.
The display was designed by his wife, Melksham and district flower arranging society chairman Rosalyn Clarke.
He said: “We do a different window all through the seasons.
“If you can contribute to the windows in the town it makes it look alive and more interesting, and it adds to the character of the town.
“We made a bit of a special effort this year as it’s my 50th year in business.”
This year’s competition, organised by the town council, saw three winners selected in 17 different categories, including Shaw Primary School for its planters, The Bear pub for best decorated site and Brookside Care Home for the new over-60s award.
Bruce Petty, of St Michael’s Road, scooped three of the top prizes, including best front garden.
