A man caught in Trowbridge with a 8mm bullet has been warned he could be facing a jail term.
Ian Morrison, 43, was found with the ammunition after being arrested on suspicion of assaulting two women.
Morrison denied counts of battery on two women on Tuesday, May 27, and a third, on one of the same complainants the following day, when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Monday.
But Morrison, of City Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, admitted possessing ammunition without a firearms certificate on Wednesday, May 28.
Robin Shellard, prosecuting, said because of the seriousness of the charge he has admitted they would not seek a trial on the assaults and asked for them to lie on file.
Jason Taylor, defending, said his client had intended to hand over the bullet to the authorities before being caught with it.
He asked for the case to be adjourned so a pre-sentence report can be carried out on his client.
Judge Tim Mousley QC agreed and adjourned the matter until Monday, October 13, and released him on conditional bail until then.
He said he must not contact witnesses, enter Wiltshire or go to an address in Park Street, Trowbridge.
And he told him: "Do not regard the fact that I am granting you bail today as any indication that you won't be going to prison."
