As the festive season approaches, Larkrise Community Farm in Trowbridge is preparing for its miniature donkeys Maddie and Petal to become stars. The pair of well handled miniature donkeys have lovely temperaments and love attention, which makes them perfect for starring roles in plays or as an added attraction at any Christmas event.

They are used at the farm by students studying for qualifications in animal management and are a huge hit with visitors. To help fund its work, the farm charges a hire fee of £100 which includes handlers, all equipment including a pen, bedding and hay and transport within five miles of the farm.

The Larkrise Riding for the Disabled group at the farm is looking for more volunteers so it can reduce the waiting list of children who want to join the weekly lessons.

Volunteers do not need to have any horse experience to help with the sessions, during the week or on Saturday mornings: for more info call Wendy Self, farm manager and RDA leader, on 01225 751675, pop in to the farm on West Ashton Road, Trowbridge for a chat or see www.larkrisefarm.org
